For this illustrated key art promoting the documentary Free for All: The Public Library, I used a bold illustration and a bright, inviting color palette to capture the boundless curiosity libraries inspire. A giant red book opens with hand-drawn icons representing knowledge, creativity, and discovery, from math and music to art supplies and rocket ships.
At the bottom of the piece, a child points upward toward the book, but a gap in the path between them and the towering symbol of knowledge subtly hints at the barriers that still exist for many. It’s a nod to the film’s deeper themes around access, equity, and the enduring role public libraries play in bridging those divides
